A warm welcome to a lovely home for up to 4 people who enjoy life. If the weather is good, it is a fantastic feeling to cook in the well-equipped kitchen (oven, stove, microwave, small air fryer, countertop dishwasher, coffee maker and kettle), put the food away and walk maybe 30 seconds to the lake, to eat the food while the sun goes down.
This particular place is known for its fantastic sunsets and if you stay for a week in cloudless weather, you will probably have many wonderful pictures on your mobile! The cottage and the beach are located on the right side of Lake Vänern for magical sunsets.
The cottage itself is modern and fresh, there is a bedroom with 2 single beds. The living room and kitchen are combined and the other 2 beds are in a sofa bed. The dining area is a higher "bar table" with high chairs, so that all 4 people can have a wonderful view of Lake Vänern. Bluetooth speakers are available. Wifi 5-G, smart TV, Chromecast, Netflix.
The bathroom has a toilet, shower cabin and a top-loading washing machine. Water and sewage are municipal.
At the back of the cottage there is a small terrace with a roof, where it is cozy to sit on a rainy evening or when the wind blows from the lake. A glass of wine perhaps with candles on the table.
Pets are welcome but remember to keep your friend under supervision as there are more cottages in the area and that road 26 runs close by.
2 bicycles are on site that you can freely use (assuming nothing happened due to a guest before). The plot is perfect for playing and relaxing.
Lake Vänern is the largest lake in the entire EU (26th largest in the world) and no matter how hard you try, you will not be able to glimpse the western shore of the lake, but it feels more like a freshwater sea. Fishing in Vänern is free for everyone with a rod and hook.
A walk along the lovely promenade is not to be missed. If it's summer, it can be fun for the kids to go to Askeviks camping about 400 meters away. There is a playground, restaurant and probably a new friend to get to know.
The area is one of Sweden's most popular destinations when it comes to excursion opportunities. 7 minutes by car or 20 by bike takes you to the wonderful Sjötorp where the Göta Canal starts. Google Göta Canal and you won't want to miss that place. 12 minutes by car in the other direction takes you to Gullspång, perhaps best known for the Gullspång salmon. The salmon is exceptionally large, but endangered and therefore the area is one of the EU's Natura 2000 areas. There are salmon ladders you can visit and with a little luck you will see one of the giants walking.
Mariestad is the nearest larger town, a charming small town with about 17,000 inhabitants, many restaurants, cafes and all the major grocery stores.
The cottage is best suited to a couple looking for relaxation or perhaps a family with small children. Not suitable for youth groups as there are several houses next door inhabited by quiet families.
A warm welcome to your beautiful "oasis".
